Competition Policies for States

It is very important that competitors and coaches read through all information and links on this page and ensure their teams are adhering to policies made from Florida and National Science Olympiad. Failure to adhere to these rules and policies may result in penalities being assessed by event supervisors.

• All tests and keys with raw score statistics will be posted after competition.
• Each team must be accompanied by one unique adult. Schools with two teams must thus be accompanied by two unique adults.
• All events will follow the national Science Olympiad Inc. rules, as well as clarifications posted at soinc.org/events/rules-clarifications, clarifications posted on the Event Information, and FAQs posted at soinc.org/events/frequently-asked-questions. For events whose rules or content differ with the level of competition, we will adhere to the rules specified at the state level.
• Events will be scored according to the guidelines at https://www.soinc.org/scoring-guidelines.
Competitors must adhere to the following safety protocols with regards to eye protection and laser usage.
• Competitors must adhere to the code of ethics and policies outlined at soinc.org/join/policies.
• Competitors, parents and coaches may photograph and record videos of their own team’s build devices but may not do so for another team without permission. We will have staff photographers take photos throughout the day and post these photos afterwards on our website and social media.
